Rare Red Weather Warning for Swansea

The Met Office has issued a rare red weather warning for Swansea for tomorrow morning. Under a red alert, we’re advised to expect flying debris that could cause damage to people and homes.

We’re advising all tenants to carry out a thorough assessment of their homes and any driveways, gardens, or balconies, etc, to look for and move/secure any items that could become a hazard. Some obvious items would be:

  • Chairs and tables
  • Trampolines
  • Other garden toys
  • Bins and recycling bags
  • Bird feeders

We’re also asking them to check any windows and doors are securely closed.

We’re advising all landlords to locate/check any insurance documents they may have so they have them to hand should a tenant report an issue that falls under their remit.

Hopefully, the storm will pass without incident, but it’s better to be prepared!

Just in case:

  • In an emergency, please dial 999
  • National Grid – Gas emergency: 0800 11999
  • National Grid – Electrical/powerline emergency: 0800 404090

To report flooding or issues with trees on the highway:

  • Swansea Council: 01792 636000
  • Neath Port Talbot Council: 01639 686868

More information is available on the Met Office website.

Stay safe!
